New Avios route to Las Vegas

Aer Lingus has announced the launch of its anticipated inaugural flights from Dublin to Las Vegas after they launched Denver last week.

Flights will start on Friday 25 October 2024 and operate flights to Las Vegas three times per week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, on a widebody Airbus A330-300 up until 29 April 2025, taking in next Easter’s holidays.

“Aer Lingus is bringing this iconic destination to customers seeking an escape to the winter sun.” said Lynne Embleton, Aer Lingus Chief Officer.

“In addition to the warm climate, Las Vegas is renowned for being one of the greatest entertainment capitals in the world, famous for its shows, concerts, sports events and natural wonders. It is a long-held ambition of ours to fly to Las Vegas. The launch of this new Aer Lingus route is a significant moment for us and our customers.”

While it is not direct from the UK, flying Aer Lingus from Dublin can be a great choice thanks to their US pre-clearance status which means that you clear US customs and immigration before you board. This saves a lot of time the other end as you disembark as a domestic passenger in effect. You could either buy a ticket from the UK with Aer Lingus from Manchester, London, Glasgow, or Edinburgh or make your own way to Dublin to pick up the flight.

I am doing exactly this next week and feel like I got a great deal with my Avios compared to using BA. I used a BA Amex companion voucher for one ticket so got 50% off the Avios. I paid 90k Avios and £277 cash which would have been around £800+ if I had booked with BA on a standard Avios redemption. Yes, it is only the Dublin-Denver part, but I am happy to buy a cash ticket to Dublin to earn some Avios and tier points.

I’ll be reporting back on my Aer Lingus and Dublin experiences flying to the US. Aer Lingus has modern business class seats and has been steadily improving its overall offering, with better food and newly enhanced Wi-Fi speeds now connecting to next-generation satellites and improving coverage across transatlantic routings. The expanded inflight entertainment has a third more choice with the addition of more movie blockbusters, documentaries, and the latest TV Shows.

Tickets for Aer Lingus’ Dublin to Las Vegas flights go on sale today, including Avios tickets. You can book your redemption either through ba.com or through the Aer Club by using “Combine my Avios” to move your BA Avios over.

Qatar has launched a flash sale for Europe until 22 May, but it is not overly exciting, with 12% off. However, if you need to book and can’t wait for the next proper sale, it is worth looking at. You don’t need any sort of code to get the discount.

The sale covers 170 destinations worldwide and applies to Economy and Business Class tickets. You can travel until 10 December 2024.

You can find the sale page here.

Leading Hotels of the World

Leading Hotels of the World is a marketing organization representing more than 400 luxury hotels in over 80 countries. It includes some individual hotels that are part of chain hotels, such as The Anantara The Marker in Dublin, as well as independent hotels. All have been selected as being luxurious and unique.

There is a new LHW offer to stay four consecutive nights and pay only for three nights. The terms and conditions vary by hotel, and there is a wide range of hotels and locations to choose from. The biggest choice of hotels is within Europe with 70 to choose from that are participating in the offer.

Speilsalen, Britannia Hotel’s fine dining restaurant

One of my personal favourites, The Datai, in Langkawi, is included in the offer. L’Oscar in London, which we reviewed, is another one. The Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, Norway, is another option. It is a beautiful hotel with an amazing fine-dining restaurant that I visited last year.

You can find the offer page here.
